As the industry continues to deal with the effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Lada sales in Russia rose significantly in the month of August. During the month, the brand sold 18,087 passenger automobiles, which is a 75% increase over what it did in July.
It was the automaker’s highest monthly result since Russia put soldiers into Ukraine in February, despite sales being down 7% from August 2021. President of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov declared in a statement:
“We will successfully overcome the current difficulties and meet demand in the Russian car market.”
Sales of the Granta and Niva, two Lada models, have returned to “pre-crisis levels,” according to Sokolov, which he called a “major milestone” on the company’s route to recovery. A government program that subsidizes the purchase of new automobiles is a huge aid to the firm, which employs approximately 42,000 people.

Major foreign manufacturers then started to wind down their operations in Russia. Although it owned a controlling stake in AvtoVaz, the French carmaker Renault left the Russian business following the invasion.
