National Incubation Center and ABL Present the Fintech Hackathon 2022

Fintech Hackathon 2022 Finale has been conducted in Lahore thanks to cooperation between Allied Bank Limited and the National Incubation Center. Through this hackathon, the NIC and ABL sought to identify workable new solutions, prototypes, and disruptive concepts that might revolutionize fin-tech not only in Pakistan but globally.

For the hackathon, the following theme areas were chosen to focus on developing Fin-Tech solutions:

  1. Fintech Banking Innovation
  2. Financial Education and Inclusion
  3. Startup & SME Banking

An all-Pakistani request for applications led to over 1100 submissions from programmers, UI/UX specialists, and financial problem-solvers, covering 53 cities and 26 universities. The final 12 teams that made the shortlist had a three-day training Bootcamp that included 8 hours of mentoring, 7 hours of training, and 12 hours of hacking to assist the teams to prepare for their innovation challenge. Based on their final pitches after the Bootcamp, a total of six teams were chosen to compete in the ABLX NIC Fintech Hackathon Finale.

The ceremony began with the reading of the holy Qur’an, and Parvez Abbasi, the project director for NIC, extended his greetings to all of the participants, visitors, and judges. The judges are Mujahid Ali, Chief Information Technology Group, Allied Bank Limited, Sohail Aziz, Chief Digital Officer, and Fatima Mazhar, Advisory board member, COLABS.
