Federal Investigation Agency FIA has launched a new policy for its officers to promote discipline and professionalism within the agency. The agency has made it mandatory for FIA officers, including immigration and investigation branch officers, to maintain uniform standards during their duty hours. This decision is a part of the agency’s plan to improve its public image.
Policy Applicability
The new regulations will be applicable to officers of BPS 17 to 22, including senior officials from the PPS in Pakistan Police Service, who serve in the FIA. It is now essential for the officers in the FIA to wear the official uniform while on duty. The policy will cover field assignments as well as office assignments.
Objectives of the Policy
It was made known that the move was programmed to help improve discipline maintain professional standards, as well as improve the perception of the FIA among the public. The objective of the initiative is to ensure a more organized working environment is achieved among its officials nationwide.
Legal Actions
The uniform design insignia placement and compliance of the duty dress code are included in the policy. FIA management will carry out periodic inspections and audits, and officers who fail to conform may be subjected to administrative actions under agency rules.
The Role of the Director General
Presently, he FIA is being headed by Dr. Usman Anwar, a senior officer from Police Service of Pakistan, who took over in February 2026. Dr. Anwar has earlier headed Punjab Police as its Inspector General and has since then spearheaded the modernization initiative of FIA with an improved level of governance and operational mechanisms coupled with officer discipline.
Expected Impact
The move is aimed at bringing efficiency into operations, accountability in officers, and instilling public confidence in FIA. Standardization of uniforms with serious compliance measures will, according to officials, ensure higher professionalism, efficiency, and effectiveness in the prosecution of criminal investigation cases, immigration, cybersecurity, and other regulating responsibilities across Pakistan.
