FBR to Launch Online Auction for Seized Vehicles

FBR to Launch Online Auction for Seized Vehicles

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced an online auction system for non-customs paid vehicles. This move aims to make the process transparent, efficient, and profitable. Many vehicles are seized due to customs violations, and their disposal was previously a slow and unclear process. The online system will allow fair bidding, making it easier for people to participate from anywhere in Pakistan.

High-Level Meeting and Approval

The decision to start online auctions was taken in a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. In the meeting, FBR officials presented the new e-auction module. The system is designed to remove corruption, ensure fairness, and streamline the process. With the approval of senior officials, the new system will soon be implemented nationwide, marking a positive step forward.

Customs General Order Finalized

Alongside the auction system, the FBR has finalized a new Customs General Order (CGO). This order will guide how confiscated and tampered vehicles are disposed of. A sub-committee studied the matter in detail before preparing the order. The CGO has now been approved and will make sure that the rules are followed properly. This ensures clarity and a standard method for future vehicle auctions by the FBR.

Government’s Focus on Transparency

Senator Ishaq Dar said that this new step shows the government’s focus on “technology-driven solutions.” The aim is to make the system transparent, reduce misuse of resources, and generate more revenue. By using modern tools, the government hopes to conserve public money and increase trust in the system. Other ministers and senior FBR officials also supported the initiative during the meeting, showing unity in this decision.

A Shift Towards Digital Governance

This development is not just about auctions but also about digital progress in governance. The online system will help remove loopholes in the manual process. People will have confidence that the system is fair and open. With smoother procedures, both buyers and the government will benefit. The move reflects Pakistan’s growing focus on technology to improve governance and ensure better services for its people.
