After multiple employees reported getting questionable emails from unknown senders, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) expressed worry over a potential cyber security compromise on Friday.
The ECP immediately issued a cyber security alert warning its officers against opening any such emails in response to the worrying development, suspecting a ransomware attack intended to get unauthorized data.

In a statement issued, the Commission urged all employees to proceed with the utmost caution and instructed them to ignore and report any communications from ambiguous or anonymous sources.
The emails were specifically identified in the letter as potential ransomware threats that might result in the unlawful extraction of crucial data.
Political parties, candidates, and other key parties have also been encouraged by the election commission to exercise vigilance and take the required security measures to guard their digital infrastructure against potential cyberattacks.
The Commission has stressed the significance of group efforts to address cyber threats and uphold voter confidence as the nation prepares for the next general elections.
