Drones are utilized by the sindh police to monitor and identify criminals

The Sindh police department aims to purchase drone technology so that it may use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to assassinate dangerous criminals at their strongholds in the province’s riverine districts in addition to conducting surveillance.

The hard terrain in the four difficult districts of Ghotki, Sukkur, Shikarpur, and Kashmore, which act as havens for criminals, is said to be the cause of the new policing strategy.

Drone usage in Pakistan is growing, according to Analyst Mohammad Amir Rana, head of the Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS). Although they initially served only as military equipment, a wide range of occupations have begun to utilise the technology.

He said that the deployment of drones for the observation of “Katcha” areas will change the dynamic of policing in these remote locations through the application of technology. The working strategies of the Counter-Terrorism Department and other law enforcement entities have undergone a considerable change as a result.

Senior counterterrorism officer Raja Umer Khattab thinks that using unmanned drones is now crucial for enhancing security.

However, he did suggest that in order to reduce collateral damage, this technology should only be used for surveillance within cities; however, drones should be employed for both monitoring and striking in riverine areas.
