The Cabinet Division has issued a warning to consumers regarding apps that are suspected of gathering personal information. Downloading these kinds of apps may harm your personal data and could leave viruses in mobile phones.
It has sent a letter to a number of ministries and organizations, claiming that there are apps on the Google Play Store that promise money in exchange for data when users use them.
It was pointed out that apps like Olivecash and Barwaqt are participating in the fraud. As soon as the user logs in, both offer money with interest.
The apps then capture personal information from users, which is then utilized for unlawful reasons.
Users are advised not to download such applications or share personal information with them, according to the Cabinet Division.
It has also instructed organizations to publish information about these applications to subordinate and affiliated departments and divisions, as well as to take all required security precautions.
The Prime Minister’s Secretary, the President’s Secretary, the Cabinet Secretary, the Additional Secretary Cabinet Division, the DG Technical ISI, and the Director IT Cabinet Division have all received copies of the letter.
