Pakistan’s national squad will travel to Sri Lanka for a Test and ODI series in July and August, and will stay for the T20 Asia Cup, which will begin in the first week of September.
The announcement comes as Sri Lanka faces a serious financial crisis, with the island nation defaulting on its $51 billion external debt.
According to the schedule, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play two Tests and three One-Day Internationals in the series leading up to the Asia Cup. The dates and locations, on the other hand, will be decided later.
It’s worth noting that Pakistan’s calendar for the next 12 months is jam-packed. Pakistan will host the West Indies for a three-match ODI series in June, prior to the Sri Lanka series and the Asia Cup.
Pakistan will also compete in two huge events in the coming year or so, including the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022 and the ODI World Cup in India in 2023, as well as a bilateral series against Afghanistan, the Netherlands, England, and New Zealand.
Pakistan completed a full-fledged series against Australia at home earlier this month, winning the ODI leg 2-1 while Australia won the Test series 1-0 and a one-off T20I.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lifted COVID-19 limitations, including the bio-secure bubble, for the next West Indies series last week, citing a dramatic decline in the country’s infection rate.
Pakistan will host England for seven T20I matches after finishing the Sri Lanka tour. The World Cup will be held in Australia this year.
