It has been discovered that Indian hacker gangs are responsible for cyberattacks in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
According to sources, the organization plans to conduct cyberattacks against diplomatic missions in both nations in order to collect critical information.
According to a warning released by the Cabinet Division, cyber threat actors continue to target strategic businesses in order to get private data for their own purposes.
There has been evidence of a targeted attack campaign to access users’ accounts and obtain private information regarding diplomatic missions in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The advice claims that a spear-phishing campaign has been seen working through a fabricated mail posing as a communication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and bearing the subject line “Gallery of Officers Who Have Received National and Foreign Awards.”
These efforts involve Indian APT organizations and other similar groups, and through emails, these groups solicit personal information from receivers of overseas missions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions have been requested by the Cabinet Division to take immediate action to protect themselves from these phishing assaults.
Advisory suggests on all crucial accounts, the MoFA and diplomatic missions use two-factor authentication and file integrity monitoring systems.
The theme files of WordPress websites are the most frequently infected points in this phishing effort, so the Cabinet division has requested that the MoFA and diplomatic missions update their World Press to the most recent versions on all websites.
The advisory suggests that all diplomatic posts set up firewalls and antivirus software.
