Culture vault aims to make the NFTs art “less crap”

Grey’s Culture Vault, which officially launches on February 3, is making a commitment to help the artist make a smooth journey to the NFTs digital world.

Some artists have figured out NFTs and jumped right in, according to Grey. But others who “are curious about NFTs but don’t really understand the blockchain or any of the concepts.” “This may be an unsettling space, particularly for traditional [media] artists.”

Works such as the Bored Apes, Cryptopunks and CryptoKitties has attracted an audience but it is not exactly high art. As these token are mostly exchanged for status play and lacks the aesthetic touch or artistic integrity, says Grey.

Grey says the site works with a range of famous artists including Rico Rainey, Adam Briggs, and The Huxleys, with work that includes fine art, film, music, dance, graphic design, and even food and fashion.

Initially half the artist will be from Australia but grey has managed to bring artist from New York, Los Angeles, London, and Japan, using her overseas connection.

Stephen Ormandy, artist and designer who has signed up for Culture Vault’s launch, says he explored with video art, sound, and music at art school but “strayed off” due to the challenges in presenting the work to others.

While the ins and outs of NFTs can be difficult, Ormandy believes that at its heart, “it is a secure manner of owning a digital image.” And he feels it has a bright future since “everyone believes it’s real and important.” Grey targets market of people who “own art that speaks to you” rather than predict on which tokens will increase in value.

Culture Vault was established during a conversation with the creators of Aus Merchant, an Australian cryptocurrency exchange looking to expand into NFTs. If you’re not simply debating on what to do with an NFT once you’ve acquired it, Grey says she’s built her own “metaverse gallery,” and homes are getting more and more screens that would be excellent for digital art.
