Co-chair of the Rockstar discusses ultimate first GTA film

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 is highly anticipated by fans. And Rockstar Games co-founder revealed that the game may be adapted into a film or television show.

One of the most played video games is Grand Theft Auto. And there have been discussions about making a movie or television series out of it.

Dan Houser Of Rockstar Games

Dan Houser, a co-founder of Rockstar Games. Has now disclosed in an interview the reasons behind the lack of a GTA film or television series.

We would question [the executives], “Why would we do this?” after a few uncomfortable dates. He stated. “Because you get to make a movie,” was their reply.

Houser claims that the studio turned down the proposals. Because it didn’t want to take on a project over which it had no control.

Furthermore, Rockstar Games took into account the box office performance of other games that were made into movies.

GTA Movie

During their meeting with the execs to consider a GTA movie, Dan Houser stated that the movies’ quality was likewise subpar.

“They thought we’d be blinded by the lights and that just wasn’t the case.

We had what we considered to be multi-billion-dollar IP, and the economics never made sense.

The risk never made sense. In those days, the perception was that games made poor-quality movies,” he added.

Houser, who departed the company in 2020.

Acknowledged that things have changed and that the Rockstar Games crew today might have a new idea for a Grand Theft Auto film.

GTA 6 In Autumn 2025

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive said on May 17 that GTA 6 will launch in the autumn of 2025.

Without providing any additional information.

Rockstar had previously stated that the highly anticipated sequel to the franchise would be released the following year.

The most recent game to be adapted for television was Minecraft, which debuted last month.

Previously, television shows based on Fallout, Tomb Raider, Halo, The Last of Us, Resident Evil, and The Witcher were produced.
