China and Russia will contribute positively to the development of new types of international relations and a community with a shared future for humanity, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Thursday at a regular press conference in Beijing.
On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Eastern Economic Forum that some challenges of a global nature “that threaten the whole world have replaced the pandemic.”
During his speech, Putin acknowledged that some sectors of the Russian economy are suffering as a result of sanctions and political pressure, and then outlined a new geopolitical order in the aftermath of the Ukraine crisis.
In response to the speech, Mao stated that China and Russia, as permanent members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council, will firmly practice true multilateralism and contribute to global economic recovery.
In contrast, she stated that some countries ignored the UN Charter’s purposes and international law norms and imposed illegal unilateral sanctions on other countries at will, seriously affecting the world’s political and economic order as well as global governance.
She stated that China will continue to collaborate with the international community, including Russia, to promote global multiploidization, economic globalization, and democratization of international relations.
