The Bay of Bengal regularly sends monsoon rainfall currents into the nation. The top regions of the nation are also being affected by a westerly trough that could linger for the next few days, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Under the influence of this, rainfall/wind-thundershower (with few heavy to very heavy falls) are expected in Kashmir, (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur), Gilgit Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khusab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Karak and Waziristan from 22nd to 26th July with occasional gaps.

Rainfall/wind-thundershower (with isolated heavy falls) is also expected in Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musakhel, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Loralai, Ziarat, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Kech, Panjgur, Dera Ghazi khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Sanghar, Badin, Thatta and Karachi from 22nd to 24th July with occasional gaps.

Expected Rainfall Across Pakistan

From July 22 to July 26, intense rains could result in urban floods in low-lying parts of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, and Lahore.

They could also produce landslides in vulnerable regions including Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and hilly parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Between July 22 and July 26, areas in Kashmir, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Manshera, Abbottabad, and Rawalpindi/Islamabad may experience flash floods, while Dera Ghazi Khan and nearby areas in northeastern Balochistan may experience a hill torrent on July 22 and 23.

From July 22 through 24, intense rainfall could cause water logging in low-lying districts of Hyderabad and Karachi.

Farmers are encouraged to plan their activities while taking the weather forecast into consideration. Travelers and tourists are advised to use additional caution to stay safe during the wet season.

Storms with high winds and thunder can harm unsecured infrastructure like solar panels and utility poles. During windstorms and severe rains, the general population is recommended to seek shelter in secure locations.

All relevant authorities have been urged to exercise caution and maintain vigilance throughout the forecast timeframe.
