The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated construction of a new underpass at Margalla Enclave on Park Road, Islamabad. The project is aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion in one of the city’s busiest areas. This underpass forms part of CDA’s ongoing efforts to enhance Islamabad’s road network and ensure smoother vehicle movement for daily commuters.
Islamabad Traffic Police Implements Traffic Plan
To manage traffic during the construction, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has introduced a detailed traffic management plan. Commuters are advised to follow the designated routes and cooperate with traffic personnel. Officials have stated that multiple diversion points will be in place to maintain a steady flow of vehicles along Park Road.
Key Diversions During Construction
From Rawal Dam Chowk to Tramri:
- Vehicles will be rerouted via NIH Road.
- The diversion will guide traffic through Mohra Noor before merging back onto Park Road.
From Tramri to Rawal Dam Chowk:
- Traffic will be diverted starting near Chai Khana.
- Vehicles will pass through CDA Nursery and along the iron grill section, utilizing two temporary roads before returning to Park Road.
Recommended Alternative Routes
Motorists have also been encouraged to use alternative routes including Lehtrar Road, Khanna Pul, and Islamabad Expressway. Travelers are advised to add 20 to 30 minutes to their journey times during peak hours to avoid delays caused by the ongoing construction.
Safety Measures and Helpline
Traffic police personnel will remain present throughout the affected areas to direct vehicles and ensure smooth movement. For immediate assistance or updates, citizens can contact the traffic helpline 1915 or the emergency helpline Pucar-15.
