The British Council has unveiled a game-changing feature for IELTS test takers who want to improve their scores without having to retake the entire exam.

One Skill Retake Feature

According to a national daily, the innovative feature, aptly named ‘One Skill Retake,’ allows candidates to retake a single section of the IELTS test, be it listening, reading, writing, or speaking, while retaining the familiar format and timing of the original section.

British Council’s Director of IELTS

The British Council’s Director of IELTS, Andrew Mackenzie, explained that this innovation arose from the organization’s commitment to its customers.

He stated that they understood that their test takers could achieve their best scores on test day with adequate preparation and support.

He went on to say that ‘One Skill Retake’ allowed candidates to go back over a specific skill if they felt their initial performance didn’t accurately reflect their English proficiency, promoting fairness.

Furthermore, organizations that accept IELTS scores with the ‘One Skill Retake’ option can give candidates the flexibility they need to meet entry requirements while upholding high standards. This initiative demonstrates IELTS partners’ commitment to assisting test takers in reaching their full potential.

Maarya Rehman, Deputy Director of the British Council in Pakistan, stressed the British Council’s commitment to empowering IELTS test takers, making the British Council the only major high-stakes test provider in Pakistan to offer this unique option.

IELTS Test Takers

Test takers who choose ‘One Skill Retake’ will be given a secondary Test Report Form that can be used for migration and academic purposes.

Candidates can use either their original or new test report for the skill they retake, depending on their results.

This feature is available within 60 days of the initial IELTS test, giving candidates more flexibility and control over their test results.
