Bring PayPal to Pakistan, Freelancers demands to new Govt.

PayPal is a well-known online payment platform that makes it extremely simple to send money overseas. The American company was founded in 1998 and operates in a number of major countries around the world by freelancers and general public, but not in Pakistan.

At the time of writing, PayPal had over 400 million users worldwide and a yearly revenue of more than $25 billion.

Local freelancers have long complained about the lack of PayPal in Pakistan, but the issue is resurfacing. #PayPal is once again trending on Twitter, with thousands of people demanding an official launch in Pakistan.

Twitter user Kiran Kazim noted that while Pakistan’s freelance market is expanding, there is still no PayPal in the country. The tweet also includes a link to a CNBC article from 2019 that lists the top ten fastest-growing markets for freelancers.

Pakistan ranked fourth on the list, with a 47 percent increase in freelancer earnings over the previous year (2018).

The recent trend coincides with Pakistan’s recent government change. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been replaced by Shehbaz Sharif of the PMLN, and people are taking advantage of the opportunity to demand the changes they desire.
