Pakistan captain Babar Azam broke Aaron Finch’s record for most runs as captain in T20I cricket with a 37-run innings against New Zealand in the third T20 match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Despite Pakistan’s 7-wicket loss to New Zealand, the batting genius went on to break another milestone in his brilliant career.

Aaron Finch scored 2236 runs in 76 innings for Australia, but Babar Azam has already eclipsed him with 2,246 runs in just 67 innings, beating the previous Australian captain’s record by 10 runs.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has also scored 2,125 runs in 71 innings, ranking third among the most prolific batsmen in the game’s shortest format.

Rohit Sharma also reaches the Top 5 with 1648 runs in 54 innings, while Virat Kohli, India’s run-machine, has 1570 runs in 46 outings as captain.

Following the third match, Babar Azam faced a lot of scrutiny and criticism for his strike rate of 127.59 in which he scored 37 runs off 29 deliveries, resulting in Pakistan reaching 178-4 on a surface that required a total of more than 200.
