Australia defeated Netherlands with scoring 400 total

Australia maintained their excellent form by defeating the Netherlands by 309 runs in the 24th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India.

The massive 309-run win, the largest in the mega event’s history, helped the Aussies significantly improve their net run rate (NRR) and strengthen their position on the road to the semi-final.

No Dutch batter could hold their nerves and stand up to the bowling attack of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, and Mitchell Marsh while chasing the colossal target of 400 runs.

The Netherlands continued to lose wickets quickly and were soon all out for 90 runs.

Zampa had four wickets, Marsh had two, and Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood each had one.

Earlier in the first innings, Glenn Maxwell and David Warner propelled Australia to a massive 399-run total, terrorizing the Dutch bowlers and showing no mercy.

Despite losing Mitchell Marsh early on, Australia got off to a flying start.

Steve Smith and Warner combined for 132 runs, putting their team on track for a massive total.

After Smith was out for 71 runs, Marnus Labuschagne joined the left-handed opener for an 84-run stand.

After Warner’s wicket, Australia lost wickets in quick succession, and it appeared that the five-time World Champions would have to settle for a total of 300-330, but Maxwell scored the fastest century in World Cup history in just 40 balls, changing Cummins’ men’s fortunes.

The 35-year-old batted when the Aussies were 266-4 in 38 overs after losing the wicket of Josh Inglis and began hitting the Dutch bowlers, scoring 106 runs off 44 deliveries with 17 boundaries, nine fours, and eight sixes.
