Australia won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad by defeating hosts and undefeated tournament favorites India by six wickets, extending their incredible record of title wins to six.

Despite losing three early wickets in their run chase at a full Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday evening, the calm but experienced Australian side cruised to a comfortable triumph.
Batter in the middle of the order Australia sailed home, Travis Head hit 137 runs off 120 balls and Marnus Labuschagne scored 58 off 110 balls.
It brought a trophy to skipper Pat Cummins and his team, who were not considered favorites when the event started more than six weeks ago.
Indians and Aussies
Indeed, Australia and India began their campaigns against each other on October 8 in Chennai, when ace India batter Virat Kohli partnered with KL Rahul to drive his team’s pursuit of a small score and earn their first win of the tournament.
In the World Cup final in Ahmedabad, India was in a similar scenario, when Kohli (54) and Rahul (66) once again came to the rescue.
However, India’s batting meltdown on the biggest stage resulted in a modest 241 target at the conclusion of 50 overs.
With regular dismissals, Australia’s bowlers, led by Mitchell Starc’s outstanding exhibition of fast bowling with figures of 3-55 in his 10 overs, kept the Indian batting powerhouse at bay.
Captain Cummins finished with stats of 2-34 in 10 overs, while fellow seamer Josh Hazlewood finished with figures of 2-60 in 10 overs.

World Cup Titles
Australia last won the championship at home in 2015. Their sixth victory increases the distance between them and the other title-winning countries, notably India, which has two, and the West Indies, which has also two trophies.
Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and England have all won the championship once.
Australia captain Cummins stated that his squad kept their best for last, with “a couple of big-match players standing up.”
He lauded Labuschagne and Head, adding they “showed some character” by leading the chase on the grandest stage.
“He [Head] takes the game on and put some pressure back on India,” he went on to say.
The victory caps off a remarkable year for Australia, which defeated India in the World Test Championship final before winning the Ashes.
