Asus’s next gaming phone will not be available until at least early 2025, but the beastly handset has already appeared in its first leak.

ROG Phone 9

To report, the ROG Phone 9 will be available in vanilla and Pro models, one of which is listed on the internet under the model number ASUSAI2501C, yet it is not clear which phone it falls to.

Flagship-grade

As a flagship-grade gaming phone, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset should be evident. The SoC will be released in October at the next Snapdragon meeting, and the Xiaomi 15 will be the first to use it.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will reportedly have a clock that goes up to 4.00 GHz.

Yet, lately reported that an early version of the chipset can operate at 4.2 GHz and achieve 3,000 and 10,000 scores in single and multi-core tests. This will put its upcoming competitor, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400, under pressure.

Higher Than Apple’s A17 Pro Chip

The result is even higher than Apple’s A17 Pro chip, and it’s noteworthy that these are prototype scores, the final results could be even better.

However, due to heat limitations, smartphone chips can only perform at peak levels for a limited time.

Gaming Phones

Gaming phones specialise in improved cooling and even include external fans, so the Asus ROG Phone 9 should be able to make the most of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

We can also expect dedicated trigger buttons and LEDs on the device’s back, as seen on previous models. Aside from that, not much is known about the ROG Phone 9, but more will be revealed in the coming months.
