The PCB has revealed a modified starting lineup for today’s elimination match against Sri Lanka. Injury-plagued Pakistan must defeat Sri Lanka in order to reach the Asia Cup 2023 final.

The knock-out stage of the Asia Cup Super 4s has turned into a double-edged sword for Pakistan, as they will meet Sri Lanka with a fresh team mix, owing to injuries to the important players. For today’s match, some changes have been made to the team.

Fakhar Zaman Replaced With Mohammad Haris

Seasoned opener Fakhar Zaman has been replaced at the top of the order by the young and promising Mohammad Haris.

Although Fakhar Zaman has struggled in recent matches, his importance as an ODI opener cannot be overstated.

While supporters were shocked by Fakhar Zaman’s omission, they are equally excited to watch Mohammad Haris show himself in the long format.

In addition, due to the injuries to key bowlers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, Pakistan’s bowling attack has been revamped.

The departure of the pair will be felt, but the squad has asked Mohammad Wasim and Zaman Khan to step up and fill their shoes.

Another change is that Mohammad Nawaz has returned to the squad, replacing Faheem Ashraf.

Meanwhile, Salman Ali Agha’s untimely injury has allowed Saud Shakeel to play in today’s match.

Right before the important encounter, Pakistan’s ODI team has undergone a dramatic overhaul. However, in order to qualify for the finals, Pakistan must win the game against Sri Lanka with a new squad.
