This incredible achievement was highlighted during the World Athletics Championships 2023, an exciting event conducted today in Budapest.
Olympic spotlight
Nadeem’s third try during the qualifying rounds resulted in a massive javelin throw of 86.79 metres, catapulting him into the Olympic spotlight and ensuring his place in the World Athletics Championship finals in Budapest.
Javelin throw finals
Spectators from all over the world witnessed a beautiful exhibition as Nadeem’s javelin gracefully flew through the air, earning him a well-deserved spot in the javelin throw finals on August 27 (Sunday).
Positioning himself as a dominant and threatening athlete, the 26-year-old sports phenomenon, who already has a Commonwealth Games gold medal, emerged as a standout performer in Group B.
He finished in second place overall, following only India’s Neeraj Chopra. Chopra made a stunning debut in Group A with a huge opening throw of 88.77 metres.
2024 Paris Olympics
Nadeem has definitely demonstrated his outstanding proficiency and continuous passion to the sport by exceeding the rigorous qualification bar of 85.50 metres set for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
His relentless commitment was on full display throughout the qualifying period, which began on July 1.
Nadeem first gained international recognition when he finished fifth in the Tokyo Olympics, laying the groundwork for his spectacular climb in the sports world.
His achievements continued when he finished fifth at the World Championships last year.
His biggest achievement, however, came at the Commonwealth Games.
Where he won gold with a spectacular throw spanning 90.18 metres at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
This stunning triumph cemented his place in history as the first South Asian athlete to break the incredible 90-meter barrier.
