Apple’s Peek Performance event came to a close with the launch of Mac Studio, the company’s most powerful desktop computer to date. This year’s Mac Studio is larger to accommodate Apple’s M1 Max CPU as well as the company’s new flagship M1 Ultra chip.
The recently released Mac Studio is 9.5cm tall, 19.7cm wide, and 19.7cm deep, making it a more portable version of a desktop computer. When it comes to build quality, the Mac Studio is made of a single piece of aluminum and is equipped with a huge heat dissipation system.
On the back of the device, there are several options for selecting ports. Four Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, a 10 Gbit Ethernet port, two USB-A ports, one HDMI port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a power connector are included.
The M1 Max Mac Studio has two 10 Gbps USB-C connections on the front and a UHS-II SDXC card slot on the back. Instead of two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, the M1 Ultra Mac Studio uses two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports.
If you don’t have headphones or dedicated speakers, it also comes with an embedded speaker.
The M1 Max or the M1 Ultra, which is simply two M1 Max fused together, are the processor options available in Mac Studio.
Furthermore, the M1 Max can be ordered with a 32-core GPU, whereas the M1 Ultra can be ordered with up to a 64-core GPU.
In addition, each chipset can be outfitted with 64GB or even 128GB of unified memory, as well as 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, or 8TB of 7.4GB/s SSD storage.
The M1 Ultra-powered Mac Studio outperforms a Mac Pro with a 16-core Xeon processor by up to 90 percent and a 28-core Mac Pro by up to 60 percent.
However, in terms of graphics performance, it is up to 80% faster than the fastest Mac GPU currently available on the market.
Apple’s Mac Studio is now available for pre-order, with deliveries beginning on March 18th. The M1 Max version costs $1,999, while the M1 Ultra version costs $3,999.
