According to the Financial Times, production issues will cause Apple to ship fewer than 400,000 of its Vision Pro virtual reality headsets in 2024.

Up to 1.5 million of the headsets were expected to be shipped by the tech behemoth in 2024.

According to the Financial Times, which cited unnamed business insiders, the complicated manufacturing procedure for the gadgets caused production issues.

According to the story, Apple utilizes a Chinese company called Luxshare, which is having problems producing high-resolution OLED screens for each eye.

Stocks of Apple Saw Decline on Monday

Following the news’s release, Apple shares slightly declined Monday morning, down 0.2% in early trade, according to Forbes.

When the IT corporation launched the virtual reality headsets this month, it entered the virtual reality market alongside other tech behemoths like Meta (the parent company of Facebook).

The headsets offer augmented reality, which superimposes virtual graphics over the user’s perspective of the real world, as well as virtual reality, which allows users to navigate around a virtual world.

Even while some detractors questioned the device’s utility, evaluations of it were mostly favorable.

Virtual reality is still somewhat of a niche product despite the constant buzz from media outlets that cover the tech industry.

Although Meta has sold over 20 million of its own VR headsets, the business has trouble keeping customers interested in the Metaverse, the online environment to which its headgear connects users.

Since its launch last year, the Metaverse has seen persistently poor usage rates.
