What Does the ANF Act of 1997 Govern in Pakistan’s Drug Enforcement Efforts?

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in Pakistan is a government agency fighting drugs. It works with the Army and Interior Ministry. The ANF Act of 1997 guides the whole agency. It once required an Army general as leader but now anyone qualified can lead.

Major General Nasir Dilawar Shah, an Army officer, is now a leader. The ANF acts like police under the Police Order 2002.

It fights drug issues inside Pakistan and helps globally. This powerful agency changes laws, gives provinces more power. This affects ANF’s work under federal laws.
