According to rumor spread by an alleged “insider” at a Foxconn factory in China, the upcoming Apple iPhone 15 lineup will feature significant improvements in battery capacity. These improvements are expected to benefit all four models.
iPhone Battery Capacity
According to the rumor, the iPhne 15 will have a battery capacity of 3,877 mAh, while the 15 Plus will have a larger 4,912 mAh battery.
The 15 Pro is expected to have a 3,650 mAh battery, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to have a 4,852 mAh battery. All of these represent significant increases in battery capacity.
To provide a point of comparison, the iPhone 14 has a 3,279 mAh battery, whereas the 14 Plus has a larger 4,323 mAh battery. The Phone 14 Pro has a 3,200 mAh battery, while the 14 Pro Max has a 4,323 mAh battery like the Plus model.
If these rumors are true, it is clear that Apple’s devices will perform admirably in battery tests. This would be the first time an iPhone has approached the 5,000 mAh mark.
Given Apple’s well-known expertise in optimizing in-house designed chips, the battery life of all of these devices is expected to be exceptional.
In keeping with a previous rumor, it has been speculated that this year’s iPhones will be slightly thicker than their predecessors. This makes sense given that all models are expected to have larger batteries as well.
Another rumor originating from Weibo, China’s equivalent to Twitter, suggests that the 15 Pro’s base storage option will be 256 GB, doubling the current 128 GB capacity.
This advancement would serve as yet another point of differentiation between the Pro models and the non-Pro variants, the latter of which is expected to retain the 128 GB base storage configuration.
