loss

Airlines around the world have suffered trillion-rupee losses within just four days due to widespread flight cancellations. The disruptions are linked to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, which has caused airspace closures across parts of the Middle East.

Flight Cancellations and Global Impact

Approximately 9,500 flights have been cancelled over the past four days from seven major airports in the Middle East. This has resulted in estimated revenue losses exceeding Rs215 billion for international carriers.

Impact on Pakistan Airlines

In Pakistan alone, more than 400 flights have been cancelled, causing national airlines to lose around Rs10 billion in revenue. Aviation officials warn that if flight operations are not restored soon, further disruptions could significantly impact airline operations.

Additional Financial Strain

Beyond lost revenue, airlines are also facing costs related to passenger refunds and accommodation, adding to the financial burden. The cumulative effect has placed immense pressure on carriers already dealing with operational challenges.

Saudia Airlines Flight Suspensions

Saudi Arabia’s national carrier, Saudia, confirmed that flights to and from several regional and international destinations remain suspended due to ongoing developments. Destinations affected include Amman, Kuwait City, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Bahrain, Moscow, and Peshawar.

Passenger Advisory

Saudia Airlines has advised all affected passengers to check flight status before traveling. The airline is contacting travelers directly and ensuring they are informed of cancellations, refunds, and alternative arrangements. Flight services are expected to resume once the regional situation stabilizes.
