After a sensational knock, Babar Azam rockets up in ICC rankings list

The newest update to the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings for Batting features Babar Azam, who has made big improvements following a brilliant performance against Australia.

During the second Test of the series in Karachi, Pakistan’s captain was at his magnificent best against Australia. Babar batted for over two days and played a marathon effort of 196 in 425 deliveries as Pakistan pulled off a stunning draw. As a result of his performance, Babar has risen three places to No. 5 on the rankings chart.

Mohammad Rizwan and Usman Khawaja, two other great batsmen from the same encounter, have also made significant strides.

After his 104* in the second innings, Rizwan has climbed six places to joint No. 11 with David Warner. Usman Khawaja, who scored 160 and 44* in Karachi, is now ranked 13th.

Shaheen Afridi has dropped one spot to No.6 in the bowling rankings after struggling in the Karachi Test, picking up only two wickets. Mitchell Starc, who took three wickets in the first inning, moved up one spot to No.15.

Pat Cummins of Australia has climbed up one rank to No.8 after taking three wickets and hitting 34* in the first innings of the Karachi Test.
