After a long wait! Nothing Phone 1 has officially launched with stylish features

The hype train for the Nothing Phone 1 has finally come to an end with an official launch after countless leaks and teasers.

With a transparent design and identifiable LED lights, the company’s first smartphone is now available in official form on the international market in the colors black and white.

There is only one issue: It isn’t now available in the United States.

Design and Display

The transparent phone weighs only about 193 grams and is built of recycled aluminum. The display is a 6.55-inch OLED panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution.

It offers a 240Hz touch sampling rate, 1200 nits of peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The fingerprint reader is located underneath the screen.

To display pertinent information, the “Glyph Interface” LED light arrangement on the back of the phone is positioned all around its functional sections.

For instance, the camera light is turned on while taking pictures, the light behind the USB C connector indicates the status of charging, and the lights are coordinated with the onboard ringtones.

Internals and Storage

The phone is powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 778G+ SoC from Qualcomm with 8 to 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. To expand storage, there is no microSD card slot.

In terms of software, Android 12 is covered by Nothing OS 1, which is unmodified and free of bloatware.

Nothing has made a 3-year OS update and 4-year security patch guarantee, which is more than a few Android competitors have.

Cameras

A 50MP Samsung JN1 1/2.76′′ ultrawide camera is included together with a 50MP Sony IMX766 1/1.56′′ sensor-based primary camera. It can produce both 4K and 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.

A 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor serves as the selfie camera inside the cornered punch-hole cutout.

Battery and Price

4,500 mAh battery with 33W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging capabilities.

The original box does not include a charging brick, but Nothing sells one individually for €35. The Nothing Phone 1 starts at €469 in Europe.
