According to reports from the KP health department, a serious health crisis has arisen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, impacting almost 93,000 children under the age of 5 who are struggling with the severe effects of pneumonia.
When looking at the specific breakdown of cases in different places, it becomes clear how serious the problem is.
Acute Pneumonia Cases Emerged in KP
According to Department of Health data, Mardan has emerged as the leading city this year with a startling total of 14,900 reported cases, positioning it as the hub of the epidemic.
With 12,000 small children suffering from pneumonia, the situation in Lower Dir is still grave, illustrating the serious health issues the region faces.
However, 11,000 instances reported in Haripur, 9,000 in Peshawar, and 8,500 in Swat, the toll keeps rising and presents a worrisome array of public health concerns.
Situation is Getting Worse
Moreover, as per the most recent assessment on the health situation, 4,500 children in Upper Dir and 7,000 children in Swabi are suffering with pneumonia.
The alarming figures from the previous year, which showed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had a shocking 127,000 cases of pneumonia, followed by this spike in cases.
