Dr. Faheem Jehangir Khan, Senior Research Economist at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), estimates that 67 percent of youth of Pakistani wish to leave their country.
In his remarks at the two-day EconFest festival, Khan reportedly also brought up the fact that 31% of Pakistan’s educated youth is unemployed.
The economist emphasized the importance of talking about youth issues in order to find answers.
A degree is not a guarantee of employment, he claimed, despite the fact that there are more than 200 universities in the nation that award degrees to thousands of students.
Khan stated that educators had a duty to their students, who would also need to embrace entrepreneurship.
Youth Justifications on Leaving Pakistan
It is important to note that a recent PIDE poll found that young people, especially young men, between the ages of 15 and 24, had the strongest desire to leave Pakistan, with at least 62 percent of them admitting such a desire.
According to the report, the most common justifications for leaving the country are financial conditions of the country. The quest for more respect and fair opportunity are the next two important driving forces.
