According to a statement released by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), an eight-person team from the Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has arrived in Pakistan to assess the airport’s security measures.
Saudi team will also inspect other airports
Following last week’s airport security evaluation in Karachi, the crew is now wrapping up the second phase of aviation inspections in Lahore. Experts from Saudi Arabia’s aviation industry will travel to airports in Sialkot, Multan, Islamabad, and Peshawar.
According to CAA, the Saudi GACA security mission is in Pakistan to investigate the safety of nonstop flights between the two countries.
The inspectors’ focus will be on the airport’s pre-boarding, non-passenger screening, hold luggage screening, closed-circuit television, and restricted area access systems.
The team completed its inspection with a stop at the Karachi airport, where they voiced their approval of the airport’s security measures and offered some suggestions to the CAA.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is a Saudi government agency based in Riyadh that oversees the country’s air transport services and ensures compliance with civil aviation rules, safety measures, and airworthiness requirements. All regulatory activities are coordinated with the International Civil Aviation Organisation as well.
