High-intensity discharge (HID) and light-emitting diode (LED) headlights have been outlawed by the Islamabad Capital Police (ICTP) because they might frighten approaching vehicles. HID and LED users have received 13,028 fine citations from the department.
Intense legal action is being taken by ICTP against drivers who have HID and LED headlights. Against automobiles with HID and LED lights, the department has launched a campaign and a crackdown operation, according to a police spokesperson.
The ICTP is reducing LED use by imposing steep fines in order to preserve a safe driving environment in the city and avoid accidents.
In addition, the government has fined 211,279 motorcycle riders for operating their vehicles within the capital city without a helmet this year. According to an ICTP public relations (PR) representative, the agency is trying to enhance the traffic system and combat reckless driving.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Islamabad, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, gave ICTP specific orders to launch a campaign to inform the general public about traffic regulations.
Regardless of status, he said, all law enforcement must enforce traffic regulations. Additionally, IGP instructed the field staff to be kind and patient when issuing fine citations to motorists.
