According to the Consumer Technology Association, CES 2023 will draw roughly 100,000 people, more than double the amount from the Omicron wave year before.
The Omicron wave caused last year’s biggest trade fair for technology to fail. The number of attendees at CES 2022 was only around 45,000, a significant decrease from the 171,268 that attended the earlier physical event in early 2020.
However, Gary Shapiro, CEO of the CTA, which is organizing CES 2023 in Las Vegas in early January, predicted that the show’s attendance for its following iteration might more than quadruple from that of 2022.
With only four weeks until the event, Shapiro claimed in an exclusive interview with VentureBeat that the exhibition already has 2,100 exhibitors and that more are signing up every day.
Numerous plans were ruined by the COVID-19 Omicron version last year. I was going to go, but a week before the show I had to cancel because all of my appointments had changed. The show had to be covered remotely by me.
But this year, I plan to visit Las Vegas once more and lead a panel on the metaverse at a large-scale physical event (at 3 pm on Friday, January 6 at LVCC North / N262).
It serves as a sort of precursor to our upcoming February 1-2 online GamesBeat Summit: Into the Metaverse 3.
Shapiro is optimistic that attendees will want to attend live events again and mingle with colleagues in person so they can strike deals to keep the digital sector humming.
He claimed that there are currently 2,100 exhibitors at the show, including 1,000 new ones.
At least 2.1 million square feet, or 50% more than the 1.4 million square feet from the previous year, shall be available for the event.
“CES 2023 is going to rock. Extremely strong, a lot of passionate interest. Most major companies are in CES. Great pre-registration,” Shapiro said.
