1 PIA crew member 'disappear' in Canada, baffle authorities

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) steward from Lahore, Pakistan has mysteriously vanished from a hotel in Toronto, Canada. The steward reportedly landed in Toronto on Friday after flying from Lahore on PK-798, the national airline of Pakistan. He had been staying at a hotel in the Canadian metropolis with the rest of the group.

When the PIA steward failed to show up for work on a trip return to Pakistan, the airline began investigating his absence. When the airline noticed he hadn’t shown up for work, they alerted Canadian immigration officials and the police.

PIA members disappearing in Canada is a norm

The missing steward is not the first member of the PIA crew to vanish in Canada. Four flight attendants and air hostesses with the national airline have apparently defected in the past to apply for Canadian citizenship. After PK-798 landed in Toronto, Canada, last year, another PIA steward went missing. The airline representative in Islamabad verified that he was a crew member on the outbound flight.

As crew members gain approval under the General Declaration and any incidents involving missing employees must be reported to the relevant authorities, the airline authorities have been vigilant in alerting the Canadian immigration authority about such developments.
