In order to hold Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8 matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi, the Punjab government has been granted one day deadline by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to lower its requests for security expenditures.
Unanimous Consent To Set a Deadline
The deadline for the Punjab government has been established by the PCB and PSL franchisees with mutual consent.
The ongoing PSL 8 matches will be transferred from Lahore and Rawalpindi to Karachi if the government refuses to reduce the prices.
The PCB has also warned that if the Punjab government does not decrease the prices, the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand will only be played in Karachi.
Demands For Increased Security Expenses
In the past, the Punjab administration had requested a sizeable sum of PKR 45 crores for security preparations so that PSL 8 matches could be held in the province.
The PCB has already reimbursed the Punjab government for PKR 5 crores in food costs for the security forces throughout the competition.
However, the government of Punjab also requested an additional PKR 45 crore for illumination and security for the matches’ Punjab leg.
Consensus Made
During a meeting at the high-performance center in Lahore today, the PCB and PSL franchises have resolved not to pay the excessive sum the Punjab government has requested.
After tomorrow’s deadline, the ultimate choice on the tournament’s scheduling will be determined.
